Graveside Services for Ben Sims, age 85, of Alabaster, was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Pinelawn Gardens.

Mr. Sims, who passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his home, was born on December 2, 1920 in Birmingham, AL. Ben was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII, where he served in the US Navy as a radioman and was a graduate of Ensley High School.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Imogene &8220;Genie&8221; Cox Sims; children; Stuart Louis Sims, Shirley Atchison McDaniel (Benny), Jan Ellen Reppert (Mike): grandchildren: James Derek Atchison, Daryl Alsabrook Atchison, Neely Hixon Sims, Grant Robert Mykicz, and Jacob Kenneth Mykicz; sister, Louise Evelyn Wilson; great grandchildren: Katy, Anna and Alexandra Atchison.
