First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 4954 Valleydale Road, will celebrate 136 years of ministry with a special worship service and fellowship luncheon on Homecoming Sunday, Oct. 3.

Anyone who has ever attended our church is invited to return and renew friendships and celebrate precious memories.

During worship at 10:15 a.m., the church will also celebrate World Communion Sunday by incorporating several different languages in the service to symbolize our unity with Christians around the world. The Chancel Choir will perform special music.

Following worship, there will be a fellowship lunch with turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, green beans, turnip greens and a few surprises including a variety of pies for dessert.

Reservations for the luncheon should be made by calling the church office at 991-5000. Luncheon prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 5–10.
