Oak Mountain tops Spain Park in tennis match

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ tennis team defeated Spain Park 5-4 in a high school tennis match Feb. 15.

The Eagles, who picked up their first win against Spain Park in three years, won four of the six singles’ matches and one doubles’ match against the Jaguars.

Ashley Ochsenhirt of Oak Mountain defeated Olivia Cissell of Spain Park 10-1 in the No. 2 singles’ match. Oak Mountain’s Rian Imwalle took the No. 3 singles’ match with an 11-9 win over Lauren Schroeder of Spain Park.

Samantha Frederick of Oak Mountain defeated Madison Luther of Spain Park 11-10 in the No. 4 singles’ match following a tie-breaker. Anna Manning of Oak Mountain defeated Spain Park’s Robyn Mitchell 10-4 in the No. 5 singles’ match.

Ochsenhirt and Frederick defeated Cissell and Lulu Zhang of Spain Park 10-5 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

Spain Park won two singles’ matches and two doubles’ matches against Oak Mountain.

Kati Baker of Spain Park defeated Katie Gould of Oak Mountain 10-1 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Zhang defeated Oak Mountain’s Mary Catherine Touliatos 10-4 in the No.6 singles’ match.

Baker and Schroeder defeated Gould and Imwalle 10-5 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Mitchell and Luther defeated Manning and Carter Tomlinson of Oak Mountain 10-4 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.

Touliatos and Laurel Reeves of Oak Mountain won an exhibition doubles’ match 10-7 against Spain Park.
