The body of a deceased male University of Montevallo student was found at his apartment Tuesday, April 5, according to a university press release.

The student was identified as Matthew Strickland, 22, of the Huntsville area. The cause of death is undetermined and no foul play is suspected, the press release said.

The City of Montevallo police continue to investigate the case.

Strickland began taking classes part-time at the university during the summer of 2010 and was enrolled full-time for the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters, according to the press release.

“The Montevallo family extends its heartfelt condolences to Matthew’s family,” UM President John Stewart wrote in the release. “We all mourn this loss and wish his family our best for healing and comfort at such a difficult time.”

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
