At least three dead in Harpersville crash

HARPERSVILLE – A wreck involving two vehicles that caused two fatalities stopped traffic on Alabama 25 in Harpersville at 12:32 p.m., according to Harpersville Police Chief David Latimer.

According to the release, five people were involved in the accident. One victim was flown to a local hospital via Lifesaver and two others were transported by ambulance. The Shelby County Coroner, Diana Hawkins, identified the two deceased victims as Barbara G. Posey, 64, and Patrick Posey, 47, both of Vincent. Another victim, 4-year-old Jason Posey Jr., was transported to the hospital, but later died.

As of 6 p.m., Highway 25 is open to traffic.

“This was a horrible accident, and I want to thank everyone for their help,” Latimer said in the press release. “My heart goes out to the families.”
