Evangel Christian tops First Assembly

The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated First Assembly Christian 50-37 in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 6.

Rainey Ketcham led the Lightning (7-1 overall, 5-0 in ACSC) with a game-high 23 points in the victory.

Kayla Bailey added seven points and a team-high 14 rebounds in the win. Whitney Thorpe chipped in seven points and nine rebounds.


The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team remained undefeated following a 69-30 win over First Assembly Christian in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 6.

Dajon Townson and Ben Smith led the Lightning (11-0, 8-0 in ACSC) with 16 points each in the victory. Smith also grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Adam Gurley added 12 points to go along with a team-high five assists and six steals.
