Rebels down Kingwood Christian

The Coosa Valley Academy girls’ basketball team defeated Kingwood Christian 48-34 in high school basketball action Jan. 12.

Lauren Archer led the Rebels (12-6) with 20 points in the victory. Archer also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Kaylan Rich also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Blair Holsombeck led Kingwood Christian (4-12) with 10 points. Holsombeck also grabbed three rebounds.

Madelyn Pearce and Katie Etheridge, who grabbed nine rebounds, added eight points each. Karley Chamblee contributed four points and three steals.

Casey Whitmer, who also grabbed nine rebounds, and Kenzie Greer contributed two points each.


The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Coosa Valley Academy 56-30 in high school basketball action Jan. 12.

Andrew Whitfield led the Lions (6-10) with 12 points in the victory.

Jared Stewart added nine points and four assists. Josh Purvis chipped in eight points in the win.

Tyler Harrell contributed seven points and three rebounds. Daniel Fillingim finished with six points to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Jacob Bussey added five points and seven rebounds. Tyler Capps finished with four points. Jordan Vance and Logan Bean chipped in two points each. John Fillingim contributed one point.
