Cornerstone Christian tops Ellwood Christian in softball opener

The Cornerstone Christian School softball team defeated Ellwood Christian School 17-0 in its season-opening game Feb. 27.

Savannah Upton led the Chargers, the five-time defending Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A champions, with two triples and a single.

Allie Toney finished 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in five runs in the victory.

Jana Armstrong, Destiny Dillard and Destiny Upton combined to pitch the five-inning shutout.
