FROM STAFF REPORTS

CALERA – The Student Ministry of The Church at Shelby Crossings in Calera will host the second annual Mission 180 event for area youth on Sunday, March 11, from 3-8:30 p.m.

“We are excited about hosting this event for our entire community,” said Dean Shirley, the church’s youth pastor, who has been working with several adult volunteers to set up the event. “This is an opportunity for us to share the love of Christ with students from Calera, and all around Shelby County, and to provide a fun night for youth in our area, while lifting up the name of Christ.”

The free event will include four local bands, including Across 26 and Willie (Kryst Lyke) Prince, with music ranging from Christian rock and hip hop to contemporary worship. Speakers will include Dave Anderson of Dawson McAllister Ministries.

There will be free food provided by local restaurants, including Golden Rule Barbecue, Zaxby’s and Moe’s Southwestern Grill, and also snacks provided by Bud’s Best Cookies. There will also be prize giveaways from local businesses, including free music CDs, DVDs, T-shirts, books, backpacks and free coupons for local entertainment.

The church is located at 532 George Roy Parkway in Calera. Everyone is invited.
