Bulldogs sweep doubleheader in tournament

The Montevallo High School baseball team swept Verbena and Midfield in a doubleheader March 20 in its spring break tournament.

The Bulldogs defeated Verbena 18-5 in the tournament.

Chase Hamrick led Montevallo as he went 2-for-4 at the plate. Hamrick drove in three runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Trevor Chatham, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a homer. Taylor Burr, who drove in three runs and scored two runs, went 1-for-2 at the plate and added a stolen base.

Landon Goodwin earned the win on the mound after giving up five earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and six walks in four innings.

Montevallo topped Midfield 8-1 in he tournament.

Hunter Nabors led the Bulldogs at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with a double. Nabors drove in three runs and scored one run in the victory.

Hamrick finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored one run. Hamrick also earned the win on the mound after giving up one unearned run on two hits with eight strikeouts and three walks in a complete-game victory.
