Spain Park tops Homewood in area contest

The Spain Park High School baseball team defeated Homewood 6-5 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest March 29.

Josh Close led the Jaguars (18-11) as he finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Close scored one run in the victory.

Mikey White, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Will McDonald went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.

Hunter Hall drove in one run and scored two runs. Josh Rich also scored two runs.

Colton Freeman earned the win in relief after giving up two earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts and five walks in three innings.

Rich started on the mound and gave up three runs, including two earned runs, on five hits with one strikeout and two walks in two innings.

White earned the save after giving up just two hits with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.
