Hornets headed back to Final Four

The Chelsea High School girls’ soccer team wasted little time in getting off to a quick start in a 11-0 win over Moody in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A quarterfinals May 5.

Alli Cochran opened the scoring five minutes into the game and would go on to tie a school record set by Kamilla Kjoesvedt in 2011 for most goals in a play-off game with five goals.

Britne Holderby contributed three goals and one assist,adding to her single-season scoring record and pushing her total goals to 34.

Maya Hughes contributed two goals and two assists for the Hornets.

Moody’s goal came in the 15th minute when Keragan Gardner hit her shot from 20 yards out into the far side netting to draw Moody close at 3-1.  The Hornets extended their lead to 6-1 by halftime.

Cheyenne Thompson scored off of an assist from Maya Hughes early in the second half.  Chelsea scored four more goals to make the final score 11-1.

Chelsea will face either Spanish Fort on May 11 in Huntsville in the AHSAA Class 5A Final Four.
