Music on Main, Columbiana’s annual summer tradition of free summer concerts on Main Street, begins Friday, June 1, from 7-9 p.m. with “The Vintage” playing.

For the last four years, all alumni classes of Shelby County High School have traditionally met the Friday before Father’s Day at Music on Main for a huge reunion. This year’s SCHS reunion is Friday, June 15, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Main Street with “The Vinyls” playing. All classes from 2012 to the beginning are invited. Organized by Shelby County High School Alumni Committee, the tradition has grown every year. Sheila Rasco Finley and Randy McDonald are co-chairs of the event.

Maureen Minor Mayfield, Class of 1965, has organized her class for years.

“We have had classmates come from Colorado, New York, Maine, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia,” said Mayfield. “It is a unique thing. You never know who you will see to share stories of growing up. It is a wonderful time of small town America.”

Every class has a table of memorabilia, high school annuals and photos along with drinks (plastic bottles only, please) and finger foods. Classmates are encouraged to bring a snack and drinks as well as memories to share. All SCHS alumni are invited to the Fourth Annual SCHS Reunion for a time of fellowship and fun. Music on Main will be every Friday night June 1 through August 31 except June 29 and July 6. June 29 is Columbiana’s Liberty Day celebration, and Music on Main does not meet on the Fourth of July weekend.

Snow cones and popcorn will be available for sale to snack on. Elvis night, a highlight each year, will be June 22.

Bring your lawn chair and have some fun on Friday night in Columbiana. Come sit and listen to the great music or dance the night away.

Sponsored by the City of Columbiana and the Columbiana Merchants and Professional Association, Music on Main is chaired by Susan Conn, owner of Main Street Florist.
