WESTOVER – Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will award fire equipment to the Westover City Fire Department during a ceremony June 19.

The fire department will receive 10 complete sets of turnout gear worth more than $19,700 at a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at the Brook Highland Firehouse Subs, located at 5269 U.S. 280 South.

According to a press release from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the donated gear will act as a personal protectant, improving the safety of the response team during life-threatening operations.

Since 2005, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated more than $353,000 to public safety entities in Alabama, the release stated.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to support the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protect ours,” said Claudia Porter, franchisee of the Birmingham Firehouse Subs restaurant, in the release.
