Lightning fall to Tabernacle Christian

The Evangel Christian School football team fell to Tabernacle Christian 26-20 in high school football action Aug. 31.

Tabernacle racked up 246 rushing yards in the victory, while Evangel Christian finished with just 158 yards in total offense.

Mason Murphy led the Lightning with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Josh Letson finished with 25 receiving yards on two receptions.

Micah Hoge led the Evangel Christian defense with nine tackles, including four for a loss.

Clay O’Neal reeled in a 29-yard pass from Andrew Thompson for a touchdown in the second quarter. Murphy scored on a 30-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Pete Sullivan capped the scoring for the Lightning with his 23-yard touchdown pass from Murphy in the fourth quarter.
