The Shelby County Arts Council has a busy week ahead with a photography roundtable and the opening reception for the fourth annual Juried Art Show planned.

The Photography Roundtable will feature special guest John Shadrick, the official photographer for the Birmingham Barons. He will discuss the best techniques for taking action photographs. This class will be a opportunity for parents to learn to take action photos of their children playing sports, dancing or just playing around, according to a press release from the SCAC. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. at the SCAC, 104 Mildred Street, Columbiana.

The opening reception for the fourth annual Juried Art Show Opening Reception will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the SCAC. Many of the artists participating in the show will attend, and the winner of the show will be announced.

Call 205-669-0044 for more information about either event.
