Yellow Jackets sting Pleasant Valley, 52-19

VINCENT – The Vincent Yellow Jackets improved to 2-1 overall record with a 52-19 victory over Pleasant Valley in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 14.

Vincent (1-1 in Class 2A, Region 6) jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter, then added eight more points in the second to take a 27-13 lead at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets defense shutout Pleasant Valley (1-2) in the second half while the Vincent offense scored 21 points in the third and seven points in the fourth to secure the 52-19 win.

Rodney Groce led the Yellow Jackets with 178 yards rushing on nine carries with three touchdowns. Senior quarterback Damauntey Johnson added 100 yards rushing with two touchdowns while throwing for 205 yards on just 5-of-8 passing. Michael Gilham added a rushing touchdown for Vincent.

Anterio Rogers led Vincent with 91 yards receiving with two scores.

The Yellow Jackets racked up 583 yards of total offense in the victory, 380 of which came on the ground.
