On last Sunday afternoon during an open house, the residents and friends of Knowlwood Assisted Living in Montevallo celebrated with the new owner the many improvements, and the prospect of a bright future.

That new owner is John Hagan of Alabama Senior Living Inc. Hagan has 44 years experience in senior care facilities and he is excited about the new venture in Montevallo.

He explained his goal for Knowlwood is to treat everyone like family by providing a loving home for the residents and a support system for their families because he is certain older loved ones stay healthier longer in that kind of active and safe environment.

The building sports new carpeting, cosmetic improvements and an enlarged staff. Plans are to immediately add landscaping and to repave and widen the driveway.

Knowlwood has 16 private rooms with private baths and emergency call systems, three home-cooked meals and snacks each day, 24-hour personal care and assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, medications, etc. In addition, there are planned social activities and entertainment with crafts, movies, exercise and worship services.

Knowlwood is licensed by the State of Alabama – D5906. In addition to long term care, it offers day care and respite care at reasonable rates.

Long-range plans are interesting as architects are already working on plans for 50-60 independent living apartments to be built on the front of the property.

“There will be one- and two-bedroom apartments with many amenities,” said Hagan. “The apartments will be of different sizes and all will have full kitchens. The offerings will include one or two meals each day, 24-hour security, shuttle service, housekeeping, and there will be a full time activities director.”

Knowlwood is located at 4804 Alabama 25 in Montevallo, and phone is 665-5955. They asked interested parties request information about their move-in specials.
