Coosa Valley beats ECS, 38-7

MONTGOMERY-Coosa Valley Academy (2-6) defeated Evangel Christian- Montgomery (1-6) 38-7 on Oct. 5 at Evangel.

Coosa Valley coach Alton Hudson said he was proud of the way his team limited the turnovers tonight.

“We held onto the football all night something, we have struggled with all season,” Hudson said. “It has been our Achilles heel all season.”

Senior running back Alex Nelson led Coosa Valley with 68 yards and a touchdown on 12 attempts. Junior running back Ryan Brooks had 58 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.  Junior Niko Teofilo finished with 82 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Junior kicker Zac Sharp hit a 48-yard field goal to put the Rebels on the board. Brooks had a 6-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 10-0.  After a Evangel touchdown,  Nelson had a 5-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 17-7.

Senior running back Adam McCranie had a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown to stretch the lead to 24-7.

Junior Niko Teofilo added a 61-yard run to push the score to 31-7. Brooks scored again on a 9-yard touchdown run to put the game away at 38-7.
