Lady Hornets take 14th at Jesse Owens Invitational

The Chelsea High School girls’ cross country team finished 14th out of 40 teams at the Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville on Oct. 6.

Cheyenne Thompson led the way for Chelsea with an 11th place finish (20:01) out of 304 runners in the event. Camryn Neal followed Thompson with a time of 20:18 for 19th.

The Chelsea boys’ team finished 38th out of a total of 52 teams. Nick Adams led the way for the Hornets with a time of 19:41. Chris Hughes added a 20:00 time.

The Chelsea boys and girls teams will compete in the Shelby County meet to be held on Oct. 9 at Veteran’s Park in Alabaster.
