COLUMBIANA – The Cornerstone Christian Chargers scored all their points in the second half, but couldn’t mount the comeback in a 34-13 home loss to Lakeside on Oct. 12.

“It’s a frustrating loss,” said Chargers’ head coach Tim Smith.

Cornerstone (6-3, 3-2) was able to move the ball, but couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities. The Chargers drove inside the red zone three times and came away with zero points on those possessions.

After trailing 10-0 at the half, Cornerstone broke up the shutout in the third to make the score 21-7. The Chargers’ second score came in the fourth quarter to pull within two touchdowns, 27-13, but was unable to close the gap any further.

Cornerstone was led by Adrian Young who finished with 367 all-purpose yards including 173 yards rushing and 104 yards passing.

“He played a tremendous game,” Smith said on Young who moved from running back to quarterback.

The Chargers will return to action on Thursday when they play Restoration Academy with a spot in the playoffs on the line. The game will be played at Briarwood Christian.
