Calera wins Area 7 championship

CALERA- Calera High School defeated Jemison High School 3-0 ( 25-15, 25-17, 25-22) to win the Class 4A Area 7 volleyball championship at Calera. Both teams will advance to the South Super Regional at The Multiplex  At Cramton Bowl in Montgomery on Oct. 26-27.

Akia Harris led the Eagles in the championship match with seven kills and two blocks. Elizabeth Rhinehart had 21 digs while Caitlin Ryan added six kill and ten digs.

Calera advanced to the championship by defeating Bibb County High School  3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-11). Harris led with eight kills and four aces while Rhinehart had 12 digs and three aces. Keyanna Gayden added seven kills, while  Ryan had five kills.

Jemison advanced to the championship by beating West Blocton.
