MONTGOMERY – The Thompson High School volleyball team advanced to the second round of the AHSAA Class 6A Super Regional tournament with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of Daphne on Oct. 26.

“We had several girls step up tonight,” said Thompson head coach Kellyanne Gandy.

The Lady Warriors fell behind early in the third set with Daphne maintaining possession of the serve.

“I called a time out and told the girls to go back to the game plan,” said Gandy.

Thompson came out and regained control of the game to take the match.

Kelsea Bivens finished with 16 kills while Tara Miller had 27 assists.

Thompson will play Pelham at noon for a spot in the Elite Eight.
