Westminster takes 2nd, 3rd in sectionals

MONTGOMERY –  The Westminster at Oak Mountain Knights varsity girls took home 2nd place , while the boys finished 3rd in the 1A/2A Cross Country Sectional meet at Gateway Park in Montgomery on Nov. 1.

In the boys race, sophomores Carter Lemons (9th Place-18:13) and Logan Richburg (10th Place-18:17) led the Knights, who finished with eight runners in the top 25. Scott Landers (8th Gr:14th Place- 18:44); Nathan Deen (Fr:16th Place- 18:48); Malcolm Messer (So:17th Place- 18:49); Noah Thompson (Sr:19th Place- 18:58); Ethan Shaw (So:20th Place- 18:59); and Jared Keeler (Fr: 22nd  Place: 19:04) all turned in outstanding performances for the day. The boys team missed second place by only two points.

The Lady Knights finished with 48 points, led by 8th Grader Maddie Hoaglund (3rd Place), who finished with a time of 19:56 and standout seventh graders Sarah Kate Lipperd (5th Place: 20:24) and Camilla Lemons (7th: 20:31). Lauren Hoaglund, Olivia Brookins, and Morgan Reynolds, who suffered an ankle injury during the race and finished with one shoe, all finished in the top 25 for the Lady Knights.
