Indian Springs opens season with win

INDIAN SPRINGS – Indian Springs never trailed in a 50-30 victory over the Westminster Knights in both teams’ season opener on Nov. 8.

Indian Springs (1-0) jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter to take a 14-4 advantage headed into the second period. Indian Springs opened the second with an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 22-6 on their way to a 29-14 halftime score.

Westminster cut the lead down to 11, 33-21, in the third but was unable to close the gap any further.

With a 41-23 lead headed into the final period, Indian Springs allowed seven points but held Westminster scoreless in the final thee-plus minutes to secure the 50-30 victory.

Reeves Duggan led all scorers with 15 points for Indian Springs while kenechi Ijemere added 13 points.

Malcom Messer led Westminster with eight points and Jake Doggett finished with six points.
