Thielman leads Briarwood to third place finish

OAKVILLE – Briarwood Christian’s Becky Thielman finished ninth in the Class 5A girls’ race at the 2012 AHSAA Cross Country Championships to lead the Lady Lions to a third place finish.

Thielman (20:12.69) and Mallory Mathias (20:16.68) finished back-to-back with ninth and 10th place finishes respectively. Anne Kelly Patrick finished 31st with a time of 21:25.46 while Emily Stephens was 33rd with a time of 21:27.81.

Sam Whorton led the Lions with a 36th place finish in the 5A boys’ race with a time of 17:46.52. Jared Long added a 52nd place finish with Griffen Oaks taking 56th to contribute to Briarwood’s 10th place team finish out of 15 teams.
