Evangel Christian jumped out to a 26-2 first quarter lead, then coasted through the final three quarters, to win their first game of the season Nov. 16, topping North River Christian of Tuscaloosa 50-19.

It was the inaugural home game for the Lightning at their new Evangel Sports Complex, and it was also the first ever meeting between the two schools.

Senior Anna Byers paced the Lightning attack with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while senior Lacey Entrekin and freshman Mary Graydon each added 10 points. Bethany Letson and Madison Thames chipped in with seven points apiece for Evangel (1-1).
