Jean B. Arthur

Chelsea

Jean B. Arthur, 82, of Isabella and long time resident of Chelsea, went to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 22, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Von L. Arthur Sr.

She is survived by sons, Gip Arthur and Von L. Arthur Jr. (Rebecca); daughter, Chris Dorough (William); grandchildren, Rachel Watts (David), Caleb Dorough (Breana), Devin Brooks, Von L. Arthur III and Jessie Arthur; great-grandchildren, Ainsley Watts, Brook Watts and Jaida Dorough; brother, Charlie Billingsley (Jeannie) of Houston, Texas; sisters, Jo Newson (Charlie) of Nashville, Tenn., and Marti Billingsley of Birmingham; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

For many years she owned and managed the Kountry Kubbard in Harpersville before answering a calling to work with mentally challenged adults, first in Montgomery, then for many years at Shelby Chilton Mental Health Center from which she retired last year at the age of 81.

She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, “memaw” and mother-in-law, and a dear friend to many.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
