Billy Charles Mathis, age 36, of Birmingham, passed away on Dec. 12, 2012, in Centreville. He touched many lives with his own using his humor and honesty.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Christie Mathis; grandparents, Bill and Onvie Mathis; grandfather, Buddy Foshee; great-grandparents, Greene and Rozelle Johnson, Bob and Eva Mathis, and Oscar and Tuera Stephens.

Billy is survived by his parents, Milton and Patricia Mathis of Centreville; fiancée, Sandra Ellison of Birmingham; sister, Jennifer Parsons (Daniel) of Centreville; grandmother, Dot Foshee; and niece, Hannah Parsons.

Visitation was held Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Funeral services were held Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at Six Mile Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Hope officiating. He lay-in-state one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.

Pallbearers included Jackie Foshee, Randy Foshee, Randy Tucker, Matt Wilson, Rick Braddock and Skylar Braddock.
