Celebrating Christmas in Indian Springs churches

For many Indian Springs villagers, Christmas is not complete without celebrating the holiday with others in church.

Is that your tradition? Do your childhood memories include going to church on Christmas Eve? Or, did your family have a different tradition? How would you know where to go now?

The churches of Indian Springs want people to know that everyone is welcome to come celebrate Christmas with them this year. Here are some of the local churches that are planning special services for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Indian Springs First Baptist Church, located on Alabama 119, will hold a Christmas Eve candle light service with The Lord’s Supper at 5 p.m. They are also having a special musical Christmas program with adult and children’s choirs on Sunday morning, Dec. 23. Call 988-3662 for information.

The Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi will hold a Christmas Eve service with a children’s pageant and Holy Eucharist at 5:15 p.m. At 10:30 p.m., they are having a “Midnight mass” that begins with a half hour of Christmas congregational singing followed by a sung Holy Eucharist at 11 p.m. All baptized Christians can commune. On Christmas Day, a simple Eucharist with no music is at 10 a.m. For information call 988-4371.

Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church has the following Christmas schedule. Christmas Eve: Children’s Mass–Church at 4 p.m. In addition, social hall is at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve evening mass is at 6:30 p.m. and at 10 p.m. They will also have Christmas Day mass at 10 a.m. For information call 776-5413.

New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve Communion service at 5 p.m. All believers are invited to participate. They are also having a special Christmas Contata musical addition in their Sunday Service on Dec. 23 at 9 a.m. Call 991-5252 for information.

Iglesia Hispana, Briarwood Hispanic Congregation is celebrating Christmas in Spanish on Sunday morning, Dec. 23. You are invited to attend this special Christmas program. If you do not speak Spanish, headsets that translate the service into English are available. Call 776-5413 for information.
