Donald Lee Mayfield, of Columbiana, passed away on Jan. 13, 2013. Born in 1934 in Brent, Don attended Bibb County High School and later served in the U.S. Army as a Non Commissioned Officer. He is a graduate of Florida Southern College and worked for over fifteen years managing both Publix and Bruno’s grocery stores in Florida and Alabama. Don completed his professional career as the General Manager for A Model Threaded Rod in Columbiana.

A member of the Columbiana United Methodist Church, Don was an avid sports fan, following closely his beloved Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Braves. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his grandchildren, golf, fishing and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elihue Mayfield and Ida Arnold Mayfield; brother, Alsey Mayfield; and sister, Mary McCray.

Don is survived by his wife, Ouida Mayfield; his children, Ed Mayfield of Brentwood, Tenn., Cindy Walthall (John) of Madison, Jennifer Faircloth (Sam) of Helena and Ramsey Bentley (Staci) of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Caleb; and his brother, William Mayfield (Terri); and nephew, Cameron of Brent.

A memorial ceremony will be held at Columbiana United Methodist Church on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m.
