Kingwood picks up big area win

The Kingwood Christian Lions held off a third-quarter rally by Tuscaloosa Academy for a 78-59 area victory Jan. 15.

Kingwood (17-1) took a 42-30 lead at the half and Tuscaloosa Academy pulled within eight heading into the fourth. The Lions shutdown the comeback with its best scoring quarter of the night, 24 points, to seal the 78-59 win.

Titus Adams and Daniel Fillingim each posted double-doubles to lead the Lions. Adams finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Fillingim had 14 points and 17 rebounds. Josh Purvis scored 15 points for Kingwood. Silas Edwards and Jacob Bussey each added 10 points.
