Evangel outlasts Cullman Christian

ALABASTER – Evangel Christian rode the shoulders of senior Anna Byers to another dramatic win, outlasting Cullman Christian 34-32 on Jan. 24. The Lightning improved to 9-6 on the season.

Byers had 22 of the team’s 34 points, and her two crucial free throws with with 11 seconds left in the game broke a tie and turned out to be the winning points. For the game, she was 9-of-12 from the field, and also pulled down 13 rebounds.

Yancey York and Haley White each had ten points to lead the Lions (16-2). Both of Cullman Christian’s losses this season have come at the hands of Evangel.
