HARPERSVILLE – A Harpersville woman was charged with murder Jan. 29.

Shonta Cohill, 36, was originally arrested July 19, 2012.

Cohill pleaded not guilty during her trial in front of Shelby County Circuit Judge Dan Reeves.

Cohill allegedly used a knife to murder her boyfriend Humphrey Keith, 55, at the 4600 block of U.S. 280, according to court documents.

“It was a cut and dry case,” Harpersville Police Chief David Latimer said.

Latimer previously said several witnesses saw Cohill stab Keith in the chest.

Cohill’s next court hearing is a status call April 30 at 8:30 a.m., according to Shelby County Circuit Court Supervisor Jill Smitherman.
