The Kingwood Christian Lions cruised to an 88-52 victory over Monroe Academy in their first game at the AISA Class, 3A, Region II tournament Jan. 31.

The Lions (21-1) jumped out to a 49-23 lead at the end of the first half. Monroe answered in the third quarter when they outscored Kingwood 23-22, but the Lions held them to just six points in the fourth to seal the 88-52 win.

Silas Edwards led Kingwood with 15 points. Montez Haynes and Josh Purvis each scored 11 points while Titus Adams and Tyler Harrell each finished with 10 points.
