Calera cruises into regional semifinals

The Calera Lady Eagles jumped out to a huge lead and carried the momentum to a 53-34 Class 4A sub-regional win over Corner Feb. 14 at Calera High School.

Calera (20-8) jumped out to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter of play, but was outscored 13-11 in the second for a 32-19 score headed into the second half.

The Lady Eagles held Corner to just 15 points in the second half to take the 53-34 victory.

Tyesha Haynes, A’kia Harris and Jeda Doss each scored 13 points to lead Calera.

Calera will take on Dadeville on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at Alabama State University in the Class 4A Central Region semifinals.
