Shelby County edges Calera

The Shelby County Wildcats defeated county rival Calera 5-3 in their season opener Feb. 18.

Dakota Falkner led Shelby County to the win on the mound allowing two runs with five strikeouts and three walks. Jacob Pennington picked up the save pitching the last two innings with four strikeouts and one earned run.

Kyle Cofer and Austin Balzli each went 2-for-3 to lead the Wildcats at the plate.

BJ Barker led the Eagles with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate.
