Shelby County Board of Education minutes for Feb. 21

The Shelby County Board of Education held a board meeting Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at the central office in Columbiana.

The following board members were present: Aubrey Miller, Peg Hill, Steve Martin, Jane Hampton and Jimmy Bice.

The board took the following actions:

• Approved the agenda as presented.

• Approved the Jan. 17 board minutes.

• Approved the new AP course at Oak Mountain High School as presented.

• Approved the payroll and monthly expenses for January as presented.

• Approved out-of-state field trips as presented.

• Approved revised Policy 7.9 School Wellness as presented.

• Approved ARMS Resolution as presented.

• Approved Chelsea zone line changes as presented.

• Approved the various personnel actions as presented.

• Approved Maria Tidmore as Wilsonville Elementary principal, effective April 1.

• Approved April Brand as Program Specialist – Secondary, effective Feb. 22.

• Approved David Hogue as District Supervisor of Athletics, Health, Physical Education and Drivers’ Education, effective Feb. 22.

• Approved Kendall Williams as Development and Community Relations Director, effective March 25.

• Approved Bid #11-08 for portable classrooms (renewal).

• Approved Bid #12-06 for fire extinguishers and service (renewal).

• Approved for Bid #12-07 relocation of portable classrooms (renewal).

• Approved Bid #12-08 for ceiling tile (renewal).

• Approved Bid #12-09 for paint (renewal).

• Approved Bid #12-10 for ceiling tile installation (renewal).

• Approved change order for renovations to VMHS auditorium as presented.

• Approved change order for canopies for Vincent Elementary.

• Approved small construction contract for MHS as presented.

• Approved granting administrative authority to sell two portables as presented.

• Approved granting administrative authority to sell used textbooks as presented.

The next scheduled board meeting will be Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at the central office in Columbiana.
