Montevallo sophomore named to conference All-Academic team

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo sophomore Ryan May was named to the Peach Belt Conference men’s basketball All-Academic team released by the conference office Feb. 27.

May, a Fayetteville, N.C. native, owns a cumulative 3.30 grade-point average. May is a health promotion major with a minor in psychology at Montevallo.

May, a 6-foot guard, is currently leading the Peach Belt Conference with his 50.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc this season, which would rank him among the national leaders if he attempted 2.5 3-point shots per game. May, who is attempting 2.2 3-point shots per game, is the leading 3-point shooter on a team ranked No. 2 nationally in NCAA Division II with 42.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

May is on pace to become the school’s all-time leader in 3-point field-goal percentage in a single season and the team is on pace to set a new school record for 3-point field-goal percentage.

May is fourth on the team in scoring with an average of 10.4 points per game. May has scored in 12 of the Falcons’ 25 games this season, including a career-high 21 points against North Georgia on Feb. 2.

May and his teammates return to action Saturday, March 2 in their final regular season game of the season against Peach Belt Conference foe Young Harris College. Tip off is set for 3:30 p.m.
