Chelsea swept by Hillcrest

The Chelsea Hornets dropped two games in a doubleheader sweep to Hillcrest Feb. 27.

The Hornets fell 5-3 in the first game of the doubleheader. Hillcrest took a 3-2 lead after the first inning of play, but Chelsea answered with a run in the second to tie the game 3-3. Hillcrest responded with a pair of runs in the fourth to seal the game one victory.

Austin Chadwick led Chelsea with a 1-for-3 effort with a triple and a RBI. Davis Shoemaker went 1-for-3 with a RBI while Casey Ballenger and Jacob Green each added a hit for the Hornets.

Ross Ham took the loss for Chelsea in a seven-inning effort with four strikeouts while allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

Chelsea fell to Hillcrest 14-4 in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Hornets scored all four of their runs in the first inning while Hillcrest scored 10 unanswered to take the 14-4 victory.

Hunter Howard led Chelsea batting 2-for-3 with a double while Tripp Hobbs added a 2-for-3 effort with a run. Shoemaker finished 1-for-3 with a triple, RBI and a run scored.

Keelan Gregg took the loss for Chelea allowing six earned runs on seven hits.
