Calera picks up area win over Jemison

The Calera Eagles softball team defeated Jemison 7-4 in their Class 4A, Area 7 opener March 4.

Calera took an early 1-0 lead before pulling away with two runs in the third and three in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead through three and a half innings of play.

Shelby Clark led Calera batting 3-for-3 with a double and four runs scored. Kymber McGiboney finished the game 2-for-4 from the plate with a home run and two RBIs.

Emily Sanders pitched seven innings and allowed four runs on six hits with three strikeouts in the win.
