Pelham residents will have a chance to get rid of unused electronics, dispose of heavy trash items and shred un-needed documents during the city’s Spring Cleanup Day on April 6.

During the cleanup day, Allied Waste will offer curbside pickup for items not normally accepted on trash days. All items must be placed curbside by 6 a.m. on April 6.

Pelham will post a complete list of items accepted on heavy pickup day on Pelhamonline.com.

The Shelby County Landfill will also waive dump fees throughout the day for residents dropping off items.

From 8 a.m.-noon, the Cintas Document Shredding company will offer free document shredding services to Pelham residents at Pelham City Hall. Cintas will shred up to six boxes of documents for free during Spring Cleanup Day.

Also from 8 a.m.-noon, Technical Knockout will set up an electronic recycling dropoff location at City Hall. Computer monitor recycling is $7 and secure hard drive destruction is $10.

Technical Knockout will also accept metal shelving, file cabinets and household electronics except televisions. For more information on Spring Cleanup Day, call Pelham mayor’s assistant Paula Holly at 620-6403.
