Spain Park splits on first day of Wetumpka tourney

The Spain Park Lady Jags split their first two games on the first day of the Wetumpka tournament March 8.

The Lady Jags (8-6) opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over Enterprise. Haleigh Sisson held Enterprise to just two hits and struck out five in the victory. Mary Katherine Tedder scored the only run while Brittany Anderson had the only Spain Park hit.

The Thompson Warriors softball team handed Spain Park a 9-3 loss to end the first day of the tournament.

Thompson scored six runs in the top of the first inning on its way to the victory.

Sisson took the loss for Spain Park and allowed four runs on two hits.

Madi Gipson led the Lady Jags batting 1-for-2 with a double. Sisson drive in two runs while batting 0-for-2.

Haley Crumpton pitched Thompson to the win and allowed three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

Sarah Holdbrooks led Thompson with a 1-for-2 effort from the plate with a double, two RBIs and one run.
