Falcons finish fifth in West Georgia Invitational tournament

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team finished fifth in team standings at the University of West Georgia Invitational tournament March 11-12 at Sunset Hills Country Club.

The Falcons posted an identical score of 348 strokes in each round to finish with a tournament total 696 strokes.

Junior Hilary Shaner led Montevallo after carding a two-day total of 26-over par 170 in the tournament, which placed her in a tie for 15th overall in individual standings.

Freshman Morgan Natale, who led the Falcons after shooting a 11-over par 83 in the final round, carded a 29-over par 173 in the tournament and finished 22nd overall in individual standings.

Sophomore Ashlee Beck finished 23rd overall in individual standings after posting a 30-over par 174 in the two-day tournament. Junior Kira Chaudhry, who shot a two-day total of 35-over par 179, came in 26th overall in individual standings.

Senior Kayla Witt rounded out the group of Montevallo golfers with a tournament total 43-over par 187, which placed her 31stoverall in individual standings.

The Falcons return to action April 4-6 at the Bash at the Beach tournament at the LPGA International course in Daytona  Beach, Fla.
