Calera sweeps Vincent in doubleheader

The Calera Eagles picked up a pair of victories for a doubleheader sweep of the Vincent Yellow Jackets March 15.

The Eagles (8-8) scored nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 15-5 win. BJ Barker picked up the win for Calera allowing four earned runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Zach Baucom took the loss for Vincent allowing four earned runs on four hits.

Coby Mize, Dylan Reddin and Keith Dowell each hit a home run for the Eagles. Daniel Hawkins led Vincent batting 4-for-4 with a triple, double, a RBI and three runs scored.

The Eagles scored five runs in the second inning on their way to take game-two 11-1. Mathew Marvice picked up the win for Calera allowing one run on three hits. Hayden Laddie allowed 10 runs, seven earned, on six hits in the loss for Vincent.

Calera’s JR Seay went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Dowell hit a home run while batting 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Chase Howard led Vincent batting 1-for-1 with a home run and a RBI.
