Vincent takes two games over Ramsay at tourney

The Vincent Yellow Jackets softball team picked up a pair of victories over the Ramsay Rams March 15 at the Parker tournament.

The Yellow Jackets (4-7) began the doubleheader with a 9-5 victory. The Yellow Jackets led as much as 6-1 before Ramsay scored four runs in the third to close the deficit to 6-5. Vincent scored three runs in the fourth to seal the 9-5 win.

Courtney Barber pitched three innings with seven strikeouts while allowing two earned runs on two hits in the victory for Vincent. Makalla Odom picked up the save for the Yellow Jackets. Ashlynn Melton went 2-for-2 with a RBI and two runs scored to lead Vincent. Ashley Taylor added a 1-for-3 effort with a triple.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Ramsay 8-2 in the second game against the Rams. Odom allowed two runs on two hits with five strikeouts in the win.

Melton led Vincent batting 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
