Oak Mountain pick up two blowout wins at Stanhope Elmore

The Oak Mountain Eagles outscored their opponents 22-3 in two victories at Stanhope Elmore March 16.

The Eagles (10-8) began the day with a 13-1 rout of host Stanhope Elmore. The Eagles took an 8-0 lead after two winnings and added five runs in the fifth to seal the 13-1 win.

Corey Price picked up the win for the Eagles allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Heath Quinn led the Eagles batting 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Five of the Eagles’ eight hits were for extra bases led by a triple by Barrett Gossett.

Oak Mountain scored seven unanswered runs in a 9-2 victory over Chilton County to wrap up play at Stanhope Elmore. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first before Chilton County tied the game in the top of the fifth. Oak Mountain responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to claim the victory.

Chandler Clower threw a complete game allowing no earned runs on eight this with a strikeout.

Justin Hoyt led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 performance with three RBIs and a run scored. Price added a home run while batting 1-for-2.
