Falcons ranked No. 28 in latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Montevallo baseball team is ranked No. 28 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II baseball poll released March 25.

The poll marks the third consecutive week the Falcons have been ranked among the top 30 teams in the nation by the newspaper.

Montevallo (21-11 overall, 11-7 in Peach Belt Conference) is one of four Peach Belt Conference schools that continue to be ranked in the top 30.

Lander University remained No. 2 in the latest poll. The Falcons dropped the opening game 12-5 before defeating the Bearcats 4-3 in the second game of a three-game Peach Belt Conference series between the two teams March 23-24. Lander clinched the series with a 12-5 victory in the third game.

USC Aiken, the Falcons’ next opponent, moved up two spots to No. 6 in the national poll. The Pacers travel to Montevallo for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against the Falcons on March 29-30 at Kermit A. Johnson Field.

First pitch in the series opener is set for Friday, March 29 at 6 p.m. The two teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader Saturday, March 30 beginning at 1 p.m.

UNC Pembroke fell three spots to No. 18 in the latest poll. The Falcons took two-out-of three games against the Braves in a Peach Belt Conference series in late February.

UAH, a team the Falcons defeated 5-3 in a non-conference game March 13, is ranked No. 11 in the national poll. Delta State University, which swept the Falcons in a hard-fought three-game series in early February, remained No. 1 in the poll.
