Falcons ranked No. 8 in latest NCBWA region poll

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo baseball team is ranked No. 8 in the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, which were released March 26.

The Falcons have been ranked in the region poll for four consecutive weeks.

Montevallo (21-11 overall, 11-7 in Peach Belt Conference) is one of four Peach Belt Conference schools ranked in the poll.

Lander University is the top-ranked team in the NCBWA NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll.

USC Aiken, the Falcons’ next opponent, is ranked No. 2 in the region poll. The Pacers travel to Montevallo for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against the Falcons on March 29-30 at Kermit A. Johnson Field.

First pitch in the series opener is set for Friday, March 29 at 6 p.m. The two teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader Saturday, March 30 beginning at 1 p.m.

UNC Pembroke is ranked No. 5 in the region poll. The Falcons took two-out-of three games against the Braves in a Peach Belt Conference series in late February.
