Falcons move up to No. 16 in latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Montevallo baseball team moved up 12 spots to No. 16 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II baseball poll released April 1.

The poll marks the fourth consecutive week the Falcons have been ranked among the top 30 teams in the nation by the newspaper. The Falcons’ current ranking is the team’s highest ranking this season.

Montevallo (23-12 overall, 13-8 in Peach Belt Conference), which clinched a three-game Peach Belt Conference series against USC Aiken over the weekend, is one of four conference schools that continue to be ranked in the top 30.

Lander University dropped one spot to No. 3 in the latest poll. USC Aiken fell four spots to No. 10 in the national poll.

UNC Pembroke moved up one spot to No. 11 in the most recent poll.

UAH, a team the Falcons defeated 5-3 in a non-conference game March 13, is ranked No. 4 in the national poll. Montevallo faces the Chargers in the final game of a home-and-away series this season Wednesday, April 3.

First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday, April 2 with a non-conference game on the road at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala.
